Artful City

Partial Saturday outing to The Drag in Austin. I was in the mood to shop at American Apparel and Urban Outfitters. I usually DO NOT like going over to the UT area because it is always freaking packed and you can NEVER find parking. Not this time! Well, not about the parking, but the about really being in the mood to shop. These pictures were taken there, on the Drag. I always liked that wall, it is actually the entire side of a building.

Later that night, we decided to go mini-golfing/drinking. Good combo?

The sun is shining down for lovers

One of the best newest bands I've heard. Everyone listen to them.

I'm excited because I just found out that they are going to be at SXSW here in Austin. Yay! I will definitely be going to this along with many more shows throughout the week.

Film Noir for V-Day

I have become more and more intrigued with photography these last couple of months. Especially now that I have a new camera with new tricks, it has taken over me. My favorite era has always been the 1940's-1950's. Everything was so beautiful back then-a different kind of beauty. The kind that you rarely see anymore. I decided to recreate the idea of that time when film noir was very popular. I think I would have forced myself to be an actress back then if this was the kind of film that was around. I dedicated it to today-Valentine's Day. The day of "commercialism" & overbooked restaurants, but most importantly, love. I tried to express it in my own unique ways.

Enjoy.

Hot child in the city

Okay so I went a little crazy on the picture taking, but I just bought a new camera and the picture quality is so amazing that now I have more to choose from. Now even John enjoys taking pictures of me because he gets to use it. We ended up a a park near downtown Austin after having lunch at this place called The Screaming Goat (GREAT Mexican food, BTW). It was such a beautiful day outside that we decided to do the most we could.

After the park we went vintage shopping, out to a local coffee shop, and ended up at Encore Records, a local record store. I was exhausted. I'm always excited when the weekend is right around the corner and I can take at least 2 days off from the craziness that is my job.

Remember the Alamo...

The hubby and I had a San Antonio adventure this past Saturday. We randomly go visit the bro-in-law to spend some time away. I went with a more comfortable outfit for the day because I knew we'd be doing a lot of walking. We drove around the ever confusing San Antonio highway system and finally ended up downtown at the Riverwalk. We went "sightseeing", ate Hagen Daas ice cream, and finally ended up back home playing a very interesting board game and having a few drinks. I, of course, had a virgin Clamato. Delicious!

The song for the night, at least for me, was "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin :) It's just one of those songs you want to sing over and over again for the entire night. Can't tell you how many times I've actually done that (right, Tina?) haha. Can't get enough!

sNOw WAY!

Yay! Believe it or not, this was my first snow day. It "snowed" once about 6 years ago in my hometown in South TX, but that was not snow for me. It was more like icy mud. Yuck! Anyway, it was truly a snow day-I woke up at 5:45am only to find out that I didn't have to go into work that day! So I went back to sleep haha. I then proceeded to wake up 3 hours later and rushed to go outside with my husband to play in the snow. Weird thing for me was that the sun was out and shining, but the snow was still intact. That's Texas for you! It was so beautifully white outside! Never seen anything like it. I could feel the texture of the snow through my boots. I then ATTEMPTED to make a snowball, but as you can see, I was not wearing the appropriate gloves for that. It truly felt like winter.

Once the snow melted and we were able to drive without fearing for our lives that we were going to slide off the highway, we went to go have lunch at Magnolia's Cafe in the heart of SoCo in Austin. I love eating at random restaurants that you will only find in Austin. You never know what you're gonna get! Great day!
